Honoring HeroesYou and your family are cordially invited to attend the annual Celebration of Life Monument Ceremony. Each year, family members submit the names of their loved ones who were organ, eye, tissue, whole body, and “donors in spirit” donors to be engraved on the Celebration of Life Monument. Names submitted between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017 will be honored August 26, 2017 in a ceremony hosted by Donor Family Services. The ceremony includes speakers, music, and time to photograph your loved one’s name. Volunteers will be on hand to help you find names and to answer any questions you may have. Please note that NAMES OF DONORS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED ON THE MONUMENT. Cada año, los familiares cuyos seres queridos fueron donadores de órganos, tejidos, cuerpo entero, se someten los nombres de estos, para ser grabados en el Monumento Celebración a la Vida. -The next Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
-The ceremony will be held at the Celebration of Life Monument on the Southeast corner of Library Square, 500 South 300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
-Two porta potties, one ADA and one standard, are provided for the event. They will be located along the library side of 300 East near the walkway which crosses to the Public Safety Building. Restrooms and water are also available in the Urban Area of the library beginning at 8:30 a.m., and throughout the library beginning at 9:00 a.m.
-Metered parking is available, but limited. Parking is also available under the library, accessible from 400 South. Please ride public transportation if you can, or see Parking Downtown below.
-The Celebration of Life Monument Ceremony is well attended, with between 600 and 800 attendees. Newly engraved names will be available for public viewing approximately one week before the ceremony, with a list of locations available at the information desk inside the library and under the “name search” section of our website. If you wish to avoid standing in line at the wall to photograph your loved one’s name, consider visiting the wall before the ceremony. It is a good idea to bring a piece of dark paper to act as a background when photographing the names on the glass.
-Expect to be in the sun. There are a few trees around the monument, but these spots fill up fast.
-Attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs. We will have a few seats available for elderly, handicapped, and expectant mothers, but not enough for everyone.
-A “Drop Off Zone” at the entrance to the Monument will be identified by a sign at 500 South 300 East.
-Five handicapped parking stalls will be clearly marked near the entrance to the Monument on the morning of the ceremony.
-There are accessible routes throughout the grounds.
-There will be 115 seats near the stage reserved by signage saying, “Reserved for those in need.”
