DONOR FAMILY CEREMONY SURVEY
If you attended our Donor Family Ceremony on April 8, please click here to take this survey. Thank you!
Family support services provided for donor family members are a vital part of IDS’s mission. Karen Hannahs, our family support liaison, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works closely with donor families to provide follow-up supportive counseling, referrals to support groups, and bereavement educational materials.
Our family support liaison is available for donor families to help answer any questions that may arise after the donation, including questions about the recovery process. Our liaison also coordinates updated information about the recipients of their loved ones’ organ donation and can assist with correspondence between donor families and recipients. We provide updates on tissue disposition for those families who request this information.
Each April IDS holds an annual Family Recognition Ceremony, which honors our donors. Families are invited to submit a photo for the video tribute that is shown during the ceremony. The IDS Donor Quilt is displayed during the ceremony.
Our quarterly newsletter, Heart to Heart, is designed specifically for donor families Each issue features an article about grief and mourning, a birthday memorial page of our donors, and poems submitted by families in honor of their loved ones.
Please note that all costs associated with donation are covered by Intermountain Donor Services. However, occasionally an error is made and the donor family receives a donation-related bill. If you believe a billing error has been made, please contact our office as soon as possible so we can work with the doctor/hospital to correct the problem.
