Utah/Idaho State Employees can receive 30 days paid leave for donating a kidney to save another's life. Below is the Utah state policy from the Human Resource guidelines. Idaho state employees should contact their Human Resource department for details.

From the State Human Resource guidelines- 7-12. Organ Donor Leave.

Employees who serve as bone marrow or human organ donors shall be granted paid leave for the donation and recovery.

Employees who donate bone marrow shall be granted up to seven days of paid leave. Employees who donate a human organ shall be granted up to 30 work days of paid leave.

REQUEST PROCESS: To request the leave, employees complete a Family Medical Leave Act form and give it to their human resource analyst. This forms includes a statement from the doctor that they are donating an organ and how much time the employee will need off work. The human resource analyst provides the employee with a letter authorizing the leave and works with the appropriate payroll technician to ensure the leave is coded correctly. When the employee is ready to return to work, they provide their human resource analyst with a doctor's note releasing them to return to work and outlining if they have any restrictions.
